We've been planning and operating our own journeys across East Africa since 2016

Our Story

East Africa is rich in beauty, wildlife, and culture — but planning a trip here can feel overwhelming.

With so many options and little clear guidance, travelers often end up on rushed, impersonal tours that miss the heart of the experience.

That’s why, in 2016, two lifelong friends and passionate travelers, Lawrence and Bernard, founded Khanga Safaris — to offer something different. After seeing how generic itineraries and planning stress could take the joy out of a trip, they set out to create a better way to explore their home region.

Instead of fixed schedules and well-worn routes, they focused on personalized journeys built around local knowledge, genuine connections, and your unique interests.

Their goal was simple: to help people experience East Africa in a way that feels personal, relaxed, and truly meaningful.

Today, Khanga Safaris is a trusted team of local guides and travel experts — but the heart of the company remains the same: sharing the East Africa we know and love through journeys that leave lasting memories.

How We Work

1. It Starts With You

We don’t start with a package or a list of camps.

We start by understanding how you want to travel — what interests you, how you like to spend your time, what matters to you, and what you want to avoid.

2. Make Decisions

There are a 1000+ possible combinations across East Africa.

Our role is to narrow them down. We consider the season, wildlife, geography, accommodation, logistics, pace and your priorities to decide what belongs in the journey — and what doesn’t.

3. Build The Journey

We don’t simply join together a series of bookings.

We look at how each part connects: where you stay, how you move, how much time you spend in each place, and whether adding another destination actually improves the trip.

4. Stay Involved

Our job doesn’t end when the itinerary is confirmed.

We’re involved in coordinating the journey on the ground and remain available when plans change, questions arise or something needs adjusting.

Amazing experience with an expert guide.

The safari experience from start to finish was utterly faultless. Communication between us and the operators was smooth an all questions were answered efficiently. They went out of their way to help us out when a few unforeseen circumstances occurred with participants. The safari itself was simply amazing. Seeing the wild animals up close was an experience money can’t buy. Our local guide, Benson’s, knowledge of the Masai Mara was extraordinary. He knew where every animal would be and thought us so many things about the history of the park and what the future entails. The hotels that we stayed in were state of the art with excellent bedrooms and dining facilities along with very friendly staff.

I would highly recommend Khanga Safaris to anyone thinking of going on a safari in Kenya.
